A teenager reportedly got crushed to death by a recycling truck after he crawled into a dumpster in Kutztown, Birdsboro, Pennsylvania on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The workers at Total Recycling Facility in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, reportedly discovered a dead body, later identified as 19-year-old Kellen Bischoff, at about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12. The body was found lying among crushed bottles and cans that were dumped by a trash hauler, New York Post reported.
An autopsy report that came two days later revealed that the "victim's injuries were consistent with having been dumped into and later compressed by the trash truck."
Following the discovery, a description of the body was sent to other law enforcement agencies to identify the victim. Bischoff, who had several tattoos on his body, was soon identified based on the tattoos he had.
Bischoff, who was last seen attending an off-campus party near Kutztown University, had been reported missing by his family to the Kutztown Police Department. He had come to Kutztown, in Berks County to visit a relative.
After the victim was identified, the investigators then tracked his final movements. Investigators obtained surveillance footage that showed Bischoff climbing into a dumpster early Saturday morning. The footage revealed that Bischoff was alone at the time of the incident, Fox News reported.
The footage then showed a trash hauler arriving hours later near the dumpster and emptying the dumpster into the rear of his truck. The trash hauler then compresses the contents including Bischoff's remains. Following this, the teen's body was then transported to the recycling facility.
"No signs of foul play or unexplained injuries were observed to the victim," officials said.
A toxicology report is still pending in the incident.
Bischoff, who hailed from Manahawkin, a town known as the gateway to the Jersey Shore, played in a heavy metal band called Hellfire and is survived by his parents and a sister. Following his death, his Hellfire bandmates launched a GoFundMe page to help his family with funeral expenses.
"Kellen was the drummer in our band Hellfire and was a dear friend of all of ours," the GoFundMe account says. "He was very dedicated and passionate about music and our band."
