Only hours after a young man arrived in Florida with his girlfriend, his body was found dead at the bottom of an elevator shaft with no explanation.

Chad Wolfe, 31, arrived into Tampa International Airport with girlfriend Jessica price at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, off of Delta Flight 2233, which departed from Atlanta, Ga.

Investigators are now speculating that Wolfe entered the elevator on the third floor of the main terminal and took it down to the seventh floor of the Short Term Parking Garage. His girlfriend was apparently waiting for him on the main concourse while she got her luggage from baggage claim. However, after retrieving her baggage and returning to the main concourse, Wolfe was nowhere to be seen.

Price immediately notified airport security of her missing boyfriend. She also told Wolfe's father, Garland Wolfe, that Chad had one drink on the plane and a Xanax to help him fly.

According to Daily Mail, Garland told reporters airport police told him they think Chad forced the elevator doors open and then fell to his death.

He's skeptical of that claim, noting that his son was only 150 pounds and not strong enough to pry the doors open.

While it seems that foul play was not involved the mysterious death is still far from being solved. Police dusted for prints on the seventh floor of T.I.A where Wolfe's bags and cell phone were found.

NBC10 reported that maintenance workers at Tampa Bay International Airport discovered the body in the elevator shaft of a parking garage on Friday morning.

Airport officials have been at the scene since the body was found.

TIA released a statement that said: "Investigators have determined that shortly after midnight on Friday, Wolfe entered an elevator on the third floor of the main terminal that stopped on the seventh floor of the Short Term Parking Garage."

A medical examiner will provide a cause of death.
