At least 22 Afghan commandos were executed by Taliban militants.
In a clear but unsteady video released by CNN, several commandos of the Afghan Special Forces unit can be seen forced to surrender to the militants before they are shot to death amid cries of 'Allahu Akbar' - God is Great.
The shocking killings occurred on June 16 in the town of Dawlat Abad in the Faryab province, which is close to Afghanistan's border with Turkmenistan.
The CNN report said it has obtained and verified several videos of the mass killing and has also spoken with witnesses.
In the videos released by the outlet, the bodies of the commandos can be seen scattered across an outdoor market.
The commandos were reportedly surrounded by the Taliban fighters after they ran out of ammunition during the battle, the report said.
In a 45 seconds long video released by the news outlet, a bystander can be heard saying in the local language, Pashto: "Don't shoot them, don't shoot them, I beg you don't shoot them."
The bystander then asks: "How are you Pashtun killing Afghans?"
Pashtuns are the prominent ethnic group in Afghanistan.
"Take everything off them," another voice off-camera can be heard saying at the end of the video.
"Open his body armor," a man can be heard saying in another video. A Taliban fighter can be seen taking equipment off the body of one of the dead commandos.
The Red Cross confirmed that they have retrieved the bodies of 22 commandos from the scene.
Meanwhile, the Afghan security forces had repelled the Taliban attacks on security outposts in Gazni city on Sunday.
The Taliban fighters reportedly attacked security outposts in PD3, PD6, PD1, and PD5 in the early hours of Sunday morning, a statement from the provincial police said, adding "the Taliban faced a response from the joint security forces, and their attacks were pushed back."
"The Taliban escaped from the areas after the arrival of the reinforcements. Several Taliban were killed and wounded in the clashes," Provincial police chief Fazel Ahmad said.
The statement did not mention possible casualties among the security forces.
The military commander in Ghazni, General Shir Mohammad Andewal, pledged that the security forces will "bravely" defend the city.
