Taco Bell has successfully campaigned to officially ensure that "National Taco Day" always lands on a Tuesday.

The fast food establishment worked with the National Day Calendar to get the holiday officially recognized as the first Tuesday in October, according to a press release. Previously, the holiday had just been celebrated on Oct. 4.

The change is effective this year, meaning that this year's "National Taco Day" will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Taco Bell said in a statement that they were inspired by conversations on social media to get the change made. The company noted that since 2001, "National Taco Day" only fell on a Tuesday four times.

Taco Bell set out on a journey last year to have the trademark "Taco Tuesday" canceled in all 50 states so that anyone could use the phrase. The company announced they were successful in October 2023.

The National Day Calendar has been curating and registering national days, weeks, months and international days since 2013. Other national days that fall on Oct. 1 this year include National Fire Pup Day, National Pumpkin Spice Day and National Black Dog Day.
