Patrick Beverly is not shy to speak his mind and one of his latest reactions was against former NBA player Jeremy Lin.
The 33-year-old guard, who was part of the 2019 NBA Champion team Toronto Raptors even if he did not see much action, tweeted that he hoped Chris Paul would win an NBA title before he retires.
CP3 is already 37-years-old and missed a chance on that after the Suns were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks, 123-90, in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals.
Beverly saw it and responded to Lin’s tweet by saying: “What u mean deserve why does he deserve it more?”
Paul has had all the chances in his 17 seasons in the NBA to become an NBA champion. He had stints with the Los Angeles Clippers and also the Houston Rockets.
However, like most players, injuries have hampered the run of CP3. However, the 12-time All-Star has found a way to play more games wearing a Suns uniform.
For Beverley, the reaction could be because he too deserves to taste NBA gold. Along with other talented guards in the league, any of them would love to swap places with the 4th overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft.
There is no telling how much longer Chris Paul will play active NBA ball. But for as long as he still has the heart to do so, CP3 should still be around for as long as he wants to.
At the moment, Paul has two more years left in his contract where he will earn about $60 million. Barring any change in his plans, CP3 still has at least two seasons to try and win an NBA title.
If he fails to do so, he would join a list of former NBA players who finished their careers without an NBA title. That includes the likes of Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Elgin Baylor and Karl Malone among others.
