Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna said women "have been raped for hours and then murdered" during Russia's invasion of Ukraine. She also insisted on Ukraine's resistance against the war to avoid genocide.
Speaking to Sky News for its "Sophy Ridge On Sunday," Stefanishyna claimed "horrible stories" involving women "who were raped and murdered" by the military from Moscow.
"Each and every soldier who has committed this war crime, by order or not, will be held accountable. Be sure Russian soldiers, that we fix and see it all, and Ukrainian women will stand for each other, and we will prevail." Stefanishyna also stated that Ukrainians will continue to fight for their country as she called and asked other countries to help them in this battle
"The enormous bravery of Ukrainian people, army, nation and government, it's something we would expect from all leaders around the world for standing for the values enshrined in the UN Charter. That's why Ukraine will resist as long as is needed to make sure that no terror, no mass murdering, no genocide is committed on this land in the 21st Century. But it's absolutely clear that only a Ukrainian army, and only a Ukrainian president, will not be able to withstand it alone." The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that Ukraine's situation is becoming more severe as the war continues.
Anastasia Taran, 30, has accused Russian soldiers of raping women in the city of Irpin. Taran is a former waitress who has lived in the Kyiv suburb for four years. She said that Russian troops have been storming basements and shooting terrified families as fierce fighting continues in Irpin. She also firmly accused Russian soldiers of raping women while the dead were being dumped.
In a post on Twitter, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) said Russian forces were continuing to encircle cities across Eastern Ukraine. Russia is reported to have "increased its indiscriminate shelling of urban areas resulting in… large numbers of civilian casualties". The post included, "It is likely Russia will continue to use its heavy firepower to support assaults on urban areas as it looks to limit its own already considerable losses, at the cost of further civilian casualties." Russian military used hypersonic missiles for the second day in a row in Ukraine.
