There are tons of reasons to get excited about summer, and movies are definitely one of them! We’ve seen Sofía Vergara and Reese Witherspoon promote their upcoming comedy. We know the “Magic Mike” sequel will make it an even hotter summer and the much-awaited “Entourage” movie will finally hit theatres. But that’s not all; Tom Hardy is coming back as Mad Max, and don’t think just because it’s not Halloween you wont get your doze of horror, “The Gallows” will surely hold you over until the spooky holiday comes around.
Now, if these weren’t enough, get ready to be at the edge of your seat with “San Andreas” for a bumpy helicopter ride after the magnitude 9 earthquake that shook California. Also, gather the whole family to go see “Max” the dog in his journey as a military dog and get ready for your heart to melt with the highly awaited “Batkid Begins” documentary.
“Hot Pursuit” starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara hits theatres on May 8 in a comedy that follows an uptight and by-the-book cop tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen. “Mad Max: Fury Road” starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hugh Keays-Byrne and Zoë Kravitz, amongst others, hits theatres on May 15. The action packed film is about a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky. Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max (Hardy) believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa (Theron). They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe (Keays-Byrne), from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Check out the trailer here.
You’ll have to wait until after Memorial Day to go see “San Andreas” on May 29. The action thriller stars Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Art Parkinson, and Paul Giamatti, amongst others. The story is about a rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife who are trying to make their way from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter, after the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning, and when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started. See more here.
“Entourage” fans, your patience has paid off as the movie for the hit series will be in theatres on June 5. The boys are back; the cast includes stars Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, and Jeremy Piven, Billy Bob Thornton, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Haley Joel Osment and Emily Ratajkowski, amongst others. This time movie star Vincent Chase (Grenier), together with his boys, Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Johnny (Dillon), get back to business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Piven). The family action adventure “Max” will hit theatres on June 26 starring Josh Wiggins, Lauren Graham and Thomas Haden Church. The story follows a precision-trained military dog, Max, who serves on the frontlines in Afghanistan alongside his handler, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott. But when things go terribly wrong on maneuvers, Kyle is mortally wounded and Max, traumatized by the loss of his best friend, is unable to remain in service. Shipped stateside, the only human he seems willing to connect with is Kyle’s teenage brother, Justin, so Max is adopted by Kyle’s family. Max may be Justin’s only chance to discover what really happened to his brother that day on the front. The much awaited steamy sequel “Magic Mike XXL” will hit theatres July 1 with its returning characters, plus some new additions: Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias, Amber Heard, Donald Glover, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, Michael Strahan, with Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth Banks and Jada Pinkett Smith. The story will pick up three years after Mike (Tatum) bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways. Get ready to scream with “The Gallows” as the horror flick hits theaters July 10 starring Cassidy Gifford, Ryan Shoos, Reese Mishler and Pfeifer Brown. Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy—but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone. It’s only fitting that a comedy titled “Vacation” is released during the summer, right? Well this movie will surely get some laughs with its funny cast including Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Leslie Mann, Beverly D’Angelo, Skyler Gisondo, Steele Stebbins, with Chris Hemsworth, and Chevy Chase. The story follows the next generation of Griswolds while they’re at it again—and on the road for another ill-fated adventure. Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World. The flick will hit theatres on July 31 and we’re already LOLing!
Guy Ritchie fans rejoice! The highly anticipated action film “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, with Jared Harris, and Hugh Grant will hit theatres on August 14. A fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series,“The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” is set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War and centers on CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer). Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
