Gunshots were fired in the pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown and singer Pia Mia at 1Oak in West Hollywood, California early Sunday morning. The shooting started a few minutes past 1:30 am, wounding two men and a woman. The victims included famous rap mogul, Suge Knight, as well as two other unnamed victims who were a 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl. While sources say that Chris Brown and Justin Beiber were supposed to be the targets, it was Knight who received six gunshots and was rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital where he is said to be recovering in ICU.

Marion (Suge) Knight is 49 years old and best known for founding Death Row Records and signing artists such as Tupac and Snoop Dog, altercations with the police. He was actually driving the car in which the rapper Shakur was a passenger and got shot in 1996. Knight also spent several years in prison after violating parole on weapons and assault convictions. These events started feuds with rappers like Dr. Dre and others who deserted the label and led to its bankruptcy.

Chris Brown, who is still on probation for allegedly beating up his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, right before the Grammys in 2009, proceeded to tweet: "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bulls**t!!!" after the party was cut short. A witness who goes by the name of @joyawilliams posted a video on Instagram showing Chris Brown yelling after the incident.
