A Chinese student sparked a fire in his dormitory after he tried to hide his "inflatable girlfriend" from his roommate by setting the blow-up doll on fire.

The incident occurred at a dormitory building at the Hefei University of Technology in the Anhui province in central China on February 10.

The student's roommate arrived home unexpectedly, leading the panicked student, whose identity has not been released, to set the doll on fire in a hallway. It sparked a bigger blaze that set off fire alarms as flames and smoke filled the building, South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.

A security guard contacted the fire department, which extinguished the fire before any property was damaged or students were hurt. The dormitory later sent a statement about the incident, warning other students from doing the same.

"Please do not use open flames to handle silicone items or other flammable materials in the building. Items that are no longer needed can be disposed of in the rubbish bin," the announcement read, per SCMP.
