An inquest heard earlier this week that a 24-year-old student plunged to her death a week after her “toxic” boyfriend threatened to send an explicit video of hers to her Muslim family.
Damilya Jussipaliyeva's ex-boyfriend Alessio Bianchi said that he would send the revenge porn video to her family in Kazakhstan and Dubai before she fell 80 feet from her London flat, reported The Sun. The inquest was told that her family begged her to break up with her "toxic" boyfriend days before she died on June 3, 2017, according to Daily Mail.
Damilya and Bianchi had been in an on-off relationship for two-and-a-half years. Before her death, she had told cops that there had been a row at his apartment on May 12. At the time he had "grabbed her by the throat, struck her four or five times, spat on her and that she had passed out for a few seconds."
Their friends at Regent's University were aware of their unhealthy relationship. Bianchi had reported Damilya to police himself on several occasions like when she had scratched him and she had attempted suicide.
Damilya was back with Bianchi by May 21, 2017. When the business student's sister found out about it, it sparked an argument. Her sister Ainel Jussipaliyeva said at Inner West London Coroner's Court via videolink from Dubai that her family were "just trying to explain to her." She shared that her family suspected "she was taking drugs because at times her behavior was different and I knew that Bianchi was taking drugs because she told me."
Damilya was sent a video on WhatsApp of her performing oral sex in London on May 25, 2017, along with a message saying, "I am going to keep destroying you."
The couple had gone for a night out together on June 1, 2017 and came back to his apartment in Paddington, but Bianchi is said to have pushed her out of his apartment in the early hours of the morning. He had thrown her into the water feature outside, leaving her humiliated. The concierge later called cops, and Bianchi was arrested. Later he received distraught text messages from Damilya then he called 999 on June 3 to report his girlfriend was in a distressed state.
The responding officers were criticized for spending around 40 minutes chatting to him in his apartment. They arrived at Damilya's home at around 1.30 am, which was ten minutes after she plunged to her death. She died from injuries consistent with falling from a height, according to a post-mortem.
Bianchi, now 30, was spared jail in 2018 after he admitted to disclosing private sexual photos and films with intent to cause distress and one count of assault by beating. He was given a 12-week suspended sentence, ordered to carry out a rehabilitation activity requirement and made to pay 250 pounds ($326.97) costs.
An inquest probing the death of Damilya resumed earlier this week. Ainel described her sister as a "very cheerful, very happy person and had lots of friends around, especially before she started to study in London." According to Mirror, she said that Damilya "had good relationships with her family."
