A stranger's airport stabbing spree left an elderly flight attendant dead during a layover in Denver in what airline authorities have called a "senseless crime."
Celinda Levno, 71, died after being stabbed in an outdoor plaza in Denver by a man, who is also accused of stabbing two others, as reported by 12News.
Levno had worked as a flight attendant for more than 30 years, and had been on a layover at the time of the attack. American Airlines, the woman's employer, called the attack "a senseless crime" and said they were "heartbroken" by Levno's passing, as reported by ABC15.
"Everything she did was for everyone else. A true animal lover, and a phenomenal musician. Overall, just an amazing woman. This is a devastating loss to everyone who knew her. She will now be with us every stride and her love for horses will be carried on through all of us," Josephine Dale, a friend of Levno, told 12News.
The two other victims sustained non-life threatening injuries. The suspect has been taken into custody, according to the Denver Police Department, but has not been named.
Police said the suspect is expected to face homicide charges in addition to charges related to the stabbings.
