Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn. tweeted Cyndi Lauper, showing his overwhelming love for the singer's performance at the White House's "Night of Memphis Soul" concert: and evidently the pop legend herself.

"great night. couldn't believe how hot u were. see you again next Tuesday. try a little tenderness. [sic]," the Tennessee liberal tweeted at Lauper.

Steve Cohen had "no comment" on the issue at first, according to his spokesman, Michael Pagan. The tweet was saved by the Sunlight Foundation's Twitter arm, Politiwoops, which archives deleted tweets from legislators.

Congressman Cohen posted to YouTube, a video of C-SPAN coverage of commentary he made on the House floor this week regarding the deleted tweet at Cyndi Lauper, which raised a few eyebrows noting how short a time the message was public.

He called the show a "phenomenal ... shout out to Memphis music [Cohen represents the Tennessee city]."

"I want to put a particular shout out to Cyndi Lauper," Cohen said, later jabbing fellow litigators by saying that his "colleagues should 'Try A Little Tenderness'" themselves sometimes. While the country is dealing with budget troubles and increasingly high spending, some might have been incredulous to the fact Cohen was taking official House time to laud a taxpayer-funded concert at the White House.

On Friday, NBC journalist Luke Russert, son of the late "Meet The Press" anchor Tim Russert tweeted that Steve Cohen allegedly told him "he 'punked' the press corps. Deleted Cyndi Lauper tweets to show how media jumps for salacious [stories]." Whether Cohen's venture was worthwhile if Russert's post is true is up for debate.

As MediaIte pointed out, this is not the first time Steve Cohen has been caught posting sensational tidbits. During the 2013 State of the Union address by President Barack Obama, Cohen was seen on camera by some news outlets clandestinely checking his smartphone. It was later revealed that he had tweeted, then later deleted, an "I love you" message to 24-year-old model Victoria Brink. However, in that case as Russert again pointed out, Brink is Steve Cohen's long lost daughter he only met for the first time in 2010. Brink's mother is Cynthia Sinatra, a Texas attorney.
