The first teaser trailer of the upcoming epic film “Star Wars: Rogue One” has landed, and we couldn’t be more excited! As we know, the film is set to follow the story of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.
The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards and Oscar winner visual effects supervisor, John Knoll, will be executive producing along with Jason McGatlin and Simon Emanuel.
The riveting clip shows more of Felicity Jones’ character and how she gets recruited for a mission, as well as Diego Luna joining her and a good look at the Death Star. According to Walt Disney Studios, Luna and Jones are part of a group of “unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.”
Further on in the preview, we also get a glimpse of Forest Whitaker’s character, who seems to be leading either side of the war. “What will you do when they catch you? What will you do if they break you? If you continue to fight, what will you become?” He asks.
Last summer, the exciting announcement of the film and cast came along with “Star Wars: Rogue One” releasing the first image of the full cast at Disney’s D23 Expo, confirming the stars including Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed. Now, if this set of talents wasn’t enough to get us fully excited, Academy Award winner Alexandre Desplat scores the film.
The epic standalone film was produced by Tony To and Kathleen Kennedy and is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2016. Check out the first sneak peek and get excited for the upcoming adventure, which will keep us sane until “The Force Awakens” follow-up film comes to life.
