The Delbrück, Germany sports car maker Artega has announced its bankruptcy filing today.
First introduced to the public at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show with a sensually figured Artega GT, the small two-seat mid-engine sports car had all the right qualities to break out in the sports car niche.
Perhaps it was the 2008 global market crisis or maybe the company just never caught on with the public. Whatever was the case, a roadster variant was supposedly in the works but never went into production. Artega also received guidance from Fisker during its development of an electric vehicle variant of the GT but that was only ever a concept as well.
Positioned to receive investments from Asia, the deal dropped at the last minute, forcing the small sports car company to proceed bankruptcy filings. While the company is committed to continue its business operations, it's fate is unknown.
