“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2” is a sequel to the animated superhero film under the Spiderman franchise. It stars Miles Morales as the main character and features the voices of Nicolas Cage, Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Luna Lauren Velez, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, John Mulaney, Lily Tomlin, Kimiko Glenn and Liev Schreiber.
It was learned that even before the film won the Best Animated Feature at the Golden Globes and the Oscars, the production team behind the animation is already working on the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.” Joaquim Dos Santos was tasked to helm the film while David Callaham will be in charge of writing the script.
According to Digital Spy, Amy Pascal, the producer of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2,” the upcoming film will pick up on a story that was deleted from the original movie. It is a scenario where Miles and a superhero version of Gwen Stacy seem to be falling in love.
It was added that the plotline of the “Spiderman” animated movie sequel will center on them and it is also possible that their story will evolve into another multiversal spiel. Plus, more Spider-Men and women could be introduced. In the post-credits of the first movie, they were shown for a brief time and they are Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, Penni Parker and Spider-Man 2099 that is played by Oscar Isaac.
It should be noted that unlike what he appeared to be, Spider-Man 2099 is a superhero and not a foe. As per CBR, he is Miguel O’Hara and along with other superheroes, he became a reluctant protector of the world. By protecting the people, he turned into a hero who immediately responds when underprivileged citizens are in danger or in need of help.
Then again, even if “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2” has long been in the works, filming has yet to begin. But the good news is that its release date has been announced already. On the movie’s official social media page, it was revealed that the animated “Spiderman” sequel is set to arrive in theaters on April 8, 2022.
