Halftime at the Maracana and Spain is looking at an unexpected very early exit. Chile in control and deservedly so.

45 + 1': The Spaniards look extremely shocked. They certainly didn't expect this.

44': GOOOOOOLLLL CHILLLEEE!!!! Can you believe this? An Alexis Sanchez free kick is punched into Aranguiz's path straight from Casillas who is beaten by a tidy toe poke. Chile 2-0. Spain on the brink of defeat.

40': A frsutrated Xabi Alonso dives in hard and recieves a yellow card. Is he lucky to be escaping with only yellow there?

27': Good interplay from Spain again, but Costa's attempt just misses the inside of the post and goes wide. Both teams look threatening in front of goal.

26': Arturo Vidal picks up the first yellow card of the match for delayin a Spanish restart.

23': Good chance for Spain as Iniesta finds Costa in the box, who lays it off for Xabi Alonso but his strike goes well high.

20': GOOOOOOOLLLLL!!!! CHILE! Are the world champions on their way out of the tournament? A great ball into the box by Alexis Sanchez finds Charles Aranguiz who delivers a quality ball to Eduardo Vargas who makes no mistake from six yards out. What a start to this one!

13': Spain are looking much sharper than they did against Holland and they have a chance here to whip in a free kick from about 30 yards out.

10': Ten minutes in and the temp at the start is good. Both teams looking to attack, both teams connecting passes.

2': The ensuing corner is almost put in! But a Chilean header goes just wide.

1': The Chileans are off to a flying start! Nearly a goal as they break through the Spanish defense and a final touch from Jordi Alba clraes it. Poor start from Spain.
