Coming into the 2013 season, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier and his Gamecocks were extremely optimistic about their chances of competing in the loaded SEC and battling for a National Championship. Earning a quality win over North Carolina to start the season, the Gamecocks hit their first road block the very next week, falling to Aaron Murray and the Georgia Bulldogs in another physical SEC contest. Hoping to bounce back this weekend against another league rival, USC's task of rebounding won't be easy against a very talented Vanderbilt squad.
Entering the game with an identical 1-1 record, the Commodores would love nothing more than to take down the South Carolina in front of thousands of screaming Gamecock fans. Quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels will surely need to be on point in this game since the USC defense and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will look to bring as much pressure as possible from start to finish. In 2 games this season, the senior signal caller has thrown for 523 yards and 3 scores. Opening the season with a home loss to No. 25 Ole Miss, Vandy hopes to even their SEC record with an upset win this weekend at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Vandy and USC played last season at Vanderbilt Stadium in one of the most competitive SEC games of the year. Taking the close game 17-13, South Carolina and consistent quarterback Connor Shaw would win 10 of their next 12, finishing the season 11-2 overall. The team also defeated Michigan in the Outback Bowl. Lattimore finished the game with 110 rushing yards on 23 carries along with 2 rushing TD's.
