IGN is reporting that Sony has sent out an invitation for a brief meeting where the company will announce something slim for PlayStation. The official invitation from IGN reads, "Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest.” The PlayStation Vita Slim is already available in Japan. The new Vita Slim is 20 percent thinner than the previous model and is also 15 percent lighter. It also no longer has an OLED screen and now totes a 5-inch LCD display, which Sony says helps the battery last longer.

The Japanese PS Vita Slim comes in six different colors which include; blue, white, black, pink, beige and neon yellow, it’s unknown if the US and european Vita Slims will have the same color iteration. This invitation could be something else entirely such as a rumored new Slim PlayStation 3 that is better configured to stream games from PS Now. Or a new slim PS4 that could go for a cheaper cost but the Vita Slim seems the most sensible option at the moment.

The PS Vita Slim would also be a more reasonable option because of the handhelds appeal to the new Playstation 4. During this event we could also see the PS Vita TV making its way to the west. The invitation Sony for the “breakfast briefing” is set to take place Thursday, Jan. 30, at 9 a.m. (looks to be GMT, which would be 4 a.m. ET and 1 a.m. PT) and the briefing would last about two hours.
