As the "Sons of Anarchy" season 6 release date approaches, we learn more information on the upcoming season about FX's hit show. Recently fans have discovered some controversial season 6 spoilers, the "Sons of Anarchy" premiere will feature a school shooting. When the news was first revealed, fans were shocked about the horrifying scene, although that was never creator Kurt Sutter's intention. At the Television Critics Association's summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Sutter explained his provocative choice of premiere, "I've wanted to do that story for about three years," he told reporters. "It's an organic story to our world ... thematically, it's the right thing. ... Nothing is done gratuitously. "
The scene, which has only been screened by critics, will depict a school shooting that will be carried out with a handgun. e handgun will be a direct link to SAMCRO, which cannot be good for the notorious motorcycle club with Federal and local police. We see trouble on the horizon for the club. And while there has been a lot of debate regarding the premiere, Sutter stated that he hopes the tragic scene is not leaked before it's scheduled broadcast. "I don't want it viewed as us doing it to be controversial, to bring more eyes to the episode," he said. "I'm worried more about that kind of blowback" than the public's response following its airing.

Sutter also explained that the school shooting was a necessary event to occur in the beginning of the season to tie together past episodes while also playing a vital role in the plot developments throughout season 6. "There's not really a statement I'm trying to make within the story," Sutter said, noting that the episode's events are integral to everything that follows in the last two seasons of "Sons of Anarchy."
Sutter further explained that the school-shooting scene ultimately connects to the dreaded ending of the series. The nature of the event is not meant to be sensational but more cataclysmic. "This is a story that's not being done to be sensational. It is truly the catalyst for the final act of our morality play. It sets everything in motion for this season that will ultimately lead to the end, and then will bring us into the final season and what I see as the ultimate comeuppance of everything in terms of the series."
And while fans are already dreading the idea of "Sons of Anarchy" coming to a close, it unfortunately may be sooner than we think. Sutter revealed that it is unlikely the show will go beyond a seventh season. Sutter admitted, "I'm not going to go to [FX] and say. Hey, I need two more seasons to finish my show.'" So it seems that season 6 and 7 will b e the end of "Sons of Anarchy" however that doesn't mean Sutter isn't finishing his story. According to TV GUide's Damian Holbrook, for season 6, each episode of "Sons of Anarchy" will be significantly longer. The show is already an hour long, and now each episode will tact on an extra 15 to 20 minutes of content, which could make for a more enjoyable viewing experience for fans.
The "Sons of Anarchy" season 6 premiere date is Tuesday, September 10th at 10 PM ET/PT on FX.
