Mother’s Day turned cruel over the weekend after a Wisconsin son reportedly tasered his mom in the neck due to anger over his missing phone.
Andrew Peterson, 22, was arrested on Sunday after his 43-year-old mother notified law enforcement of the violent attack, Fox News noted. The suspect is facing charges of battery, disorderly conduct, bail jumping, and possession of an electronic weapon.
"The victim reported that her son became upset because he could not find his phone,” the Richland County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
After the incident Peterson, together with his girlfriend, Colleen Parker, 20, and their young child, reportedly left the victim's home on the 1000 block of Sunflower street. The son and his offspring have been living with the Lone Rock mom for a few months now.
Peterson would later be followed to the Richland Center where he was apprehended by law enforcement. The suspect's girlfriend, Parker, was also booked for a domestic incident three days prior for punching Peterson's mom squarely in the face.
Both admitted to their violent attacks upon police questioning. Parker is facing charges of battery and domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct.
Police records show that Peterson has had a history of misdemeanors, including convictions for driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing, the Daily Mail UK reported.
In other news of violence on Mother's Day, a 36-year-old mom of two, Roxana Sanchez, was killed in an attempted carjacking outside her house just hours before a planned get-together with her family, Orlando Sentinel reported.
Sanchez's assailants remain unidentified.
“I just want to ask the public, the county, the state, if you have any information, please call,” said the widowed husband Douglas Mejia. “She was gone way too soon, especially on a glorious day, Sunday, Mother’s Day."
Sanchez was returning from a night out shopping with her friend, when two unidentified men followed them into her east Orange subdivision, pulling behind them in the driveway of their home on the 10000 block of Lecon Branch Court, Orange County Sheriff’s Detective Sergeant Joe Covelli said.
Covelli explained that two men reportedly got out of their car, banged on the windows of Sanchez’s vehicle, and demanded she and the driver exit the car. However, the driver accidentally put the car in reverse hitting the suspects’ vehicle, which led to Sanchez being fatally attacked.
