Croatia upset Brazil in a 4-2 victory over the Seleção, while Argentina defeated the Netherlands in a 4-3 victory over the Oranje in a duo of penalty kick shootouts. Both countries advance as Argentina will face Croatia in the semifinals at Lusail Stadium on Tuesday, December 13.

Friday's World Cup double-header began when underdog Croatia faced World Cup favorite Brazil at Education City Stadium, in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

Despite netting his 77th goal and tying Pele's record for the all-time Brazil men’s national team scoring record, it was not enough for the South American nation. Neymar did not get a chance to kick in the penalty shootout.
It was Croatia who made all four of its spot kicks, and scored a total of five goals. The Argentine fans celebrate Brazil's loss before their home country's kick off later the same day.
