In this modern age, people will make the most out of what they can do on social media. Youngsters want to be a cut above the rest, a reason why some make daring moves even if it means putting their lives at risk.
Several young influencers have died either accidentally or deliberately. The latest casualty is a 32-year-old Instagram influencer known as Sofia Cheung.
Per reports, Cheung visited a park in Hong Kong on Saturday morning along with three friends. While trying to take a selfie at the edge of a waterfall, the 32-year-old fell 16-feet into the Tsing Dai stream near Yuen Long per reports. The Ha Pak Lai was a nature park near Pineapple Mountain that is a popular spot for hikers.
Her friends tried to seek medical aid and Cheung was immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, she could not be saved.
When word got out that she passed away, many sent their condolences to the influencer. Cheung had over 19,000 followers and 97 posts on Instagram. In her bio, it read that she loved hiking, kayaking, exploring, outdoor activities and photography. Her last post was made five days before her death.
“I will gonna miss your chat everyday. I love you always…rest in peace my pretty sofi,” one user wrote. “Rip Sophie! I can’t believe last week I still chat with you,” another said.
Cheung’s account showed a lot of scenic landscapes and hiking trips, most in dangerous places. She was adventurous and daring, standing atop or climbing cliffs.
Her last post showed her in a white bikini with a surfboard. The caption read: "Bettey days are coming. They are called: Saturday and Sunday."
Her first public photo was posted on February 21, 2021.
