Three weeks after four-year-old Paul Franklin fell at the beach, his family learned that the swollen mass under his skin was a sea snail egg. The California boy was walking along a beach when he tripped and fell, scraping his knee against a rock. His family tended to the knee as they would any other childhood scrape.

A good wash and a bandage later, little Paul was ready to play. His parents did not think about his scrape again until they noticed it begin to swell. Franklin's mother told Fox News her son's knee grew to the size of an orange.

"His knee was the size of an orange, and hot to the touch, and he's limping," Paul Franklin's mother told Fox. Three weeks after her son fell, Paul's mother decided to squeeze the mass on her son's leg. Expecting to see a messy discharge Paul's mother was surprise by what came out of her son's knee.

Sitting on a paper towel was a small stripped object Paul and his mother believed to be a rock. Then they noticed it moving, it was a sea snail. Paul Franklin's mom told Fox News she could not help but laugh. Paul called the entire incident crazy and now cares for the creature that grew in his knee. Turbo, as the snail is now called, lives in the family fish tank with a beta fish named Dory.
