Guests at a Florida resort about 10 minutes away from Disney World had to be evacuated after a sinkhole opened up and swallowed part of the Summer Bay Resort. All 35 guests were accounted for and reported to be unharmed. The sinkhole began to open up in Clermont Florida around 10:30 pm Sunday night.

It is reported that 30-percent of the three-story resort hotel collapsed as a result of the sinkhole. Authorities are worried another section of the hotel that may also be sinking into the 60-foot wide hole will collapse. The Daily News says a nearby resort villa was also evacuated as a precaution. Authorities are trying to determine if the sinkhole is still growing outward.

Witnesses and residents staying in the hotel told reporters they could hear cracking sounds and windows began to break as the sinkhole opened up. One witness told the Associated Press he could see the building leaning inside the sinkhole as well as a large crack at its base.

CNN reports one couple was trapped in their room when the sinkhole caused the doorframe to collapse. The couple and their infant were forced to escape through a window. Another woman was enjoying a bath when the sinkhole opened. The tub she was in lifted up and the woman ran out of the hotel with nothing but her shoes on.

Sinkholes in Florida are very common. The state is made up mostly of limestone rock. Limestone is porous and will dissolve easily in water. Although sinkholes are typically small in Florida, large holes or not uncommon. In February 2013, a resident from another part of the state was killed when a large sinkhole opened up beneath his bedroom. The man's bed and most of his house was sucked down into the sinkhole. His body was never recovered.

Reports are saying the guests staying at the villa have been given different rooms in order to finish their vacations. Authorities are unsure if they will be able to get the guest the belongings they left behind. The building's current structural integrity is still being looked into.
