Alex Rodriguez’s ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis, revealed that she’s happy for his ex-husband and Jennifer Lopez, who recently got engaged. But the remarks she made against the A-list singer in court documents laid out in a long-running civil lawsuit may prove otherwise.
While out for a stroll on March 17, Scurtis revealed how she felt when she heard about Rodriguez and Lopez’s engagement. “I’m happy for them,” she told Radar Online. “Other than that I have no comment.”
Although Scurtis said she’s happy for Lopez and the former professional baseball player’s engagement, she looked quite annoyed when asked the question. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering the current status of her relationship with the star-crossed Yankee third baseman.
Scurtis and Rodriguez tied the knot in 2002 but divorced in 2008, after Scurtis accused Lopez’s fiancé of infidelity and marital misconduct. In 2014, Cynthia Scurtis’ brother, Constantine Scurtis, filed a civil lawsuit against his sister’s ex, allegedly due to Rodriguez’s failure to provide enough financial support for their children — Natasha, 13, and Ella, 10. He also accused Rodriguez of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment and civil conspiracy, saying that the baseball superstar unfairly kicked him out of the company they co-owned when he and his sister got divorced.
The court documents allegedly contain Cynthia Scurtis’ statement against Rodriguez in which she accused her former husband of threatening to cut child support for their two daughters. In court documents filed April last year in the years-long civil case, she also dissed Lopez, who was already Rodriguez’s girlfriend at the time.
Rodriguez’s attorney in the case, Alan Kluger, has possession of communications in which Cynthia Scurtis made “disparaging remarks” against Rodriguez’s girlfriend. Although the remarks were not specified, Kluger reportedly holds evidence that Scurtis badmouthed the singer and dragged her into the issue.
Although Cynthia Scurtis has nothing but good things to say about Rodriguez and Lopez in public, her claims in court documents suggest that there is still some friction between her and her ex-husband. Nobody can tell if she’s sincerely happy about the upcoming nuptials, but if her remarks against J. Lo are anything to go by, it looks like her well-wishes are nothing but lip service.
