A pedophile who abducted a 7-year-old girl from an apartment block didn’t know that he was being watched. The horrifying incident was captured on a CCTV camera in the southern city of Almaty, Kazakhstan on Wednesday, April 21.
In the video, a girl in a pink jacket is seen climbing up the stairs of an apartment block. A man wearing a grey t-shirt and a black cap is seen following the child.
The girl instinctively rushes up the stairs for safety, the man takes a second to look up to make sure no one's watching before rushing after the girl.
After they go out of sight for a while, the man is seen rushing down the stairs while roughly locking the child by her armpits.
He is then seen dragging the girl into a room not equipped with a surveillance camera. He closes the door and switches off the light. The pervert "undressed" the child and "touched" her, police said.
''The man dragged the girl to a spot which is not observed by CCTV cameras. There he undressed her and started touching and groping her," Lieutenant colonel Rustam Abdrakhmanov, the deputy chief of Almaty city police, told local media.
The child, however, managed to escape from the man and ran to her mother. Police were alerted after the girl told her mother about the abuse. The suspect was identified and arrested within minutes.
“The victim managed to escape and report the incident to her mother. The perpetrator was caught within ten minutes,” Abdrakhmanov said.
According to reports, the suspect, who has not yet been named by the police, lives nearby. He spotted the girl in a supermarket and then followed her after knowing she was alone.
The man initially denied committing the crime, but later confessed after police showed him the video of the abduction. The police are investigating, the suspect's involvement in any other similar abuses in the past.
The suspect is facing criminal charges, which could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
This is an ongoing investigation and no further details were available at the time of this writing.
