Shakira, along with Usher, has joined the hit NBC show "The Voice" for Season 4 of the singing competition.

The show, which lost judges Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, has been one of the highest-rated shows on television. The Season 3 finale drew a rating of 4.9 with 14 million viewers watching Cassadee Pope win the title.

With two judges leaving, the future of the show was in doubt but the additions of Usher, and more importanly Shakir,a brings an air of freshness to the show that many people are excited about.

"The dynamic has changed for sure," Blake Shelton told Access Hollywood.

There were some questions as to whether Shelton would even return himself because his schedule got extremely busy.

"I would say the competitiveness is up," Usher recently remarked about his new co-judge Shakira. "We've replaced Cee Lo with somebody that's just that much more aggressive. And Christina was always competitive, [but] now you've got four that are just killers up here."

Fellow judge Adam Levine of Maroon 5 agreed with Usher's thoughts about Shakira.

"You have a pregnant, hormonal Colombian," said Levine. "She's ready to bust some heads. She ain't messing around."

During part of the audition process, Shakira was pregnant with her first child. She gave birth to a baby boy last month.

NBC and show producers expect Green and Aguilera to return next year to the show but this has been something that was in the works. According to Entertianment Weekly, they want to have a group of artists in their stable to mix and match so that the artists can tour and continue their careers. Aguilera will be going on tour and working on a new album. Green will be working on a sitcom for NBC based on his life.

"Having award-winning artists as coaches means they need to be able to tour," said producer Mark Burnett. "Whether in the red chair of on tour, our coaches have their chairs for life."

Shakira joins the show as a crossover superstar. She is the highest selling Colombian artist of all time and the second most successful female Latin artist in history, just behind Gloria Estefan who helped her get noticed in America. Her record sales are at 9.6 million in the U.S.
