Colombian superstar Shakira teamed up with Fisher-Price to deliver the First Steps collection of toys and baby gear. The company, owned by toy giant Mattel, launched Shakira’s collaboration with the brand last November. Geoff Walker, executive vice president of the Fisher-Price Global Brands Team, said in an interview that Shakira contacted the company about collaborating in a collection that would help parents everywhere “give their children the best possible start.” The “Empire” singer co-developed six products, including a bouncer that plays music, alphabet blocks and a musical soccer ball, which we can only assume was inspired by her soccer star boyfriend and father to her sons Milán and Sasha, Gerard Piqué.
In addition to the toy collection, Shakira collaborated with the brand in an exclusive 12-part web series, where she “shares her own experiences as a mom, and her belief that early childhood development can be nurtured by talking, playing and (of course) singing with your baby,” as explained on the brand’s website. “Together, Shakira and Fisher-Price believe we can help parents everywhere give their children the best possible start. From creating a collection of toys and babygear, to supporting early childhood development programs, to producing a web series for parents, we’re so excited to share our work with you!”
