Shakira and Coldplay performed at the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg, Germany to much fanfare as both icons had been teasing their collaboration on social media for sometime. Chris Martin even teased singing in Spanish one of the hit songs from the Colombian star. One of the songs they performed was "Me Enamoré," which also aired during Premios Juventud 2017 on the Univision network. Other hits included "Chantaje," "A Full Sky Of Stars" and "Yellow." Premios Juventud 2017 changed its format this year and expanded its focus to social causes that directly affect Hispanic communities by adding the “Agentes de Cambio” (Agents of Change) category to the awards, inspired by the artists, performers and presenters who have become powerful voices for a variety of causes. Six Hispanic achievers under the age of 30 from throughout the country will be recognized on the PJ 2017 stage for their grass-roots advocacy on behalf of the environment, education and social inclusion.
“In keeping with the spirit of Premios Juventud this year and the focus on social action, we are pleased to add the surprise performance of Shakira with Coldplay, thanks to Global Citizen, an organization focused on eradicating poverty and making the world a better place through the actions of each and every citizen," said Univision’s President of Music Jorge “Pepo” Ferradas.
Wilver Valderrama was one of the celebrities that had the honor in celebrating the outstanding work of the youth with the "Agentes de Cambio" award. Joining the former "That 70s Show" star is "Orange Is The New Block" actress Diane Guerrero. The six "Agentes de Cambio" were Iván Ceja (26) and Justino Mora (28) from Compton, California, Dante Alvarado León (22) from Berkeley, California, Sarahí Espinosa Salamanca (27) from Palo Alto, California, Xiuhtezcatl Martínez (17) from Boulder, Colorado and Nalleli Cobo (16) from Los Ángeles, California.
The musical extravaganza aired live from the Watsco Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL with hosting duties carried by Alejandra Espinoza, Danilo Carrera, Jesse & Joy, Chyno and Leslie Grace.
Appearances from stars throughout the night include: Jake T. Austin, África Zavala, Bárbara de Regil, Natalia Jiménez, Adrián Martín, and many more. Performing for the first time in a Latin network in the U.S. is Iggy Azalea who will bring her new hits to the party. Also joining the lineup is DNCE, Maluma, J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Gente de Zona, De La Ghetto, Wisin, Farruko, Jacob Forever, Ozuna, and Zion y Lennox. The duo that was Chyno y Nacho will be going solo and Calibre 50 and Ulices Chaidez y sus Plebes will also be at the event. Other confirmed performers include Enrique Iglesias, Yandel, Silvestre Dangond, Carlos Rivera, Arcángel and Sebastián Yatra.
Maluma was one of the winners of the night taking the accolade for Best Fashionista edging out Becky G, J Balvin, Luis Coronel, Sofía Reyes and Victoria "La Mala." In the Best Video category it was J Balvin that took the honors for "Sigo Extrañándote" while Calibre 50 won in Best Song For "La Troca" with "Siempre Te Voy A Querer."
