Famed sex therapist Amie Harwick breathed her last on Saturday, after being thrown off her third-floor balcony by her ex-lover Gareth Pursehouse.
Reports allege that Pursehouse barged into her Hollywood hills forced himself upon her, just two weeks after the restraining order against him had expired. Neighbors in the Los Angeles neighborhood woke up to the loud shrieks of a woman, hours before Harwick was discovered unconscious on the ground.
Harwick was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to the injuries, revealed a statement released by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), that further added how officers found evidence of a struggle on Harwick’s body.
The LAPD sprang into action and had Pursehouse arrested at around 4.30 pm on Saturday in Playa Del Rey on the grounds of suspected murder. Incidentally, friends close to the therapist believe that Harwick always feared for her life—and was convinced that Pursehouse was out to get her. Harwick, who was once engaged to Drew Carey, host of “The Prince Is Right” also enjoyed a brief stint as a playboy model. The then couple had split in 2018 after dating for over a year. Carey, however, was unavailable for comment as soon as the news of her death broke.
Pursehouse’s job history shows him as a photographer, software engineer, and developer. His most recent job was that of a lead architect at Internet brands. Pursehouse was active on Twitter hours after Harwick’s death and sometime before his arrest.
Harwick, who’s quite an accomplished and trusted name in Hollywood, used to charge $200 per session as a part of her weekly therapy session. The author of “The New Sex Bible For Women” worked out of an office on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. Harwick who’s been vocal about the importance of developing good mental health had earlier appeared on the WE tv reality series “Braxton Family Values” that shed light upon Mental health in a positive way.
Harwick was armed with a degree in psychology from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California, and went on to earn her masters of arts in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University.
