Three months after Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán successfully escaped from the maximum-security prison in Almoloya, Mexico’s Attorney General Arely Gómez revealed very important information regarding Guzmán's crusade.
“We have been working very hard, we have gathered a lot of declarations and today we have 23 former public servants locked in different maximum-security prisons.” Gómez declared during a meeting with the Senate last week. “One of them though, is not a public servant, and I’m telling you right now, he is a pilot that transported this person,” she added.
According to officials, the leader of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel came up with a strategy that managed to evade more than 750 cameras, 26 security filters, and a preventive bracelet. But the plan of action that has been followed by the PGR since the fugitive ran away on July 11 revealed that “El Chapo” had a lot of help from the inside.
New reports disclose that Servando Gómez Martínez “La Tuta,” the leader of Los Caballeros Templarios Drug Cartel who was arrested back in February, claimed to be having a heart attack on the night of Guzmán’s escape.
Juan Galindo, who was in charge of monitoring the security videos on July 11, is one of the former public servants who were arrested by the authorities under complicity charges. His sister-in-law, Edith Mojica, revealed information Galindo has shared with her which exposes “La Tuta’s” heart attack report was a lie:
“He [Galindo] called the infirmary, they told him they were taking him [La Tuta] back to his cell and that’s when Jaime and some of his colleagues got arrested a few hours after the escape and ended up being released for lack of proof but he was recaptured later,” Mojica said in an interview with “Noticiero Univisión.”
