We all know what an amazing actress, dedicated social worker, and confident woman the Duchess of Sussex is but in a recent interview, ace tennis player, Serena Williams revealed that Meghan Markle is a great BFF as well.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Williams shared how, in contrary to what many media outlets and social media trolls believed, Markle’s first solo trip post giving birth to Archie, was not conducted alone. The Duchess travelled with her newborn son to watch her friend Serena Williams play the US Open.

"She flew all the way with a newborn to see me play in New York and flew all the way back that night, and I probably couldn't have done that," Williams said.

It is widely known that the tennis star and the former “Suits” actress became best pals when they first met at a Super Bowl party in 2010. They have been in touch since then and Williams finds it “really cool to have a group of friends who are doing amazing things and face the same pressures you face with being in the public eye." Serena Williams also attended Markles’s Royal wedding in May 2018.

Williams is aware of Markle’s busy schedule but despite it, the latter finds time to ensure that she is there for her friend when she needs her.

"I call her, text her anytime, crying upset, and she's always there," Williams said. "It doesn't matter what she's going through, she sets time aside and that's amazing."

So, it was only natural for Markle to support her friend as she played for her 24th Grand Slam title. And while, at the time she was heavily panned for leaving behind young Archie for her trip, Williams has confirmed that the Duchess was travelling with her baby boy.

Markle’s efforts to be there for her friend proved to Williams “what an amazing person she is and that's just one of the many things she does for me.”

“I'm not sure that many people can relate on that level, I don't think I can. I just think she's the strongest person I know, the nicest, sweetest,” Williams shared.

Williams ultimately lost in the US Open in Septemberas she was defeated by 19-year-old Bianca Andreescu.
