Selena Gomez's mom is giving an update on the relationship with her daughter and it looks like the rumors were true as she confirms she's "not happy" with the Justin Bieber reunion. “Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy,” Mandy Teefey told Gossip Cop. “Every mother and daughter has disagreements. She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices.”
Mandy Teefey was hospitalized in December 2017 and initial reports suggested it was after a fight she had with her daughter over her relationship with Justin Bieber. Those rumors turned out to be false and Teefey was admitted voluntarily and going through a stressful time. “It’s been a stressful time for Mandy and she made the decision herself to go to the hospital and make sure everything was okay. This wasn’t just about Justin,” a source told People, adding “It’s true her family doesn’t approve of Justin, but this wasn’t just over a fight about him.”
Selena Gomez getting back together with Justin Bieber has been an issue with her family as their previous breakup caused a lot of pain for the "Wolves" hitmaker. “Justin knows Selena’s family is not happy about her dating him,” the insider says. “He has known for a long time. But he is adamant that he has changed and is a better boyfriend now. He will keep trying to prove himself to her family. He is sad that her mom is not doing well. Selena is very close with her mom, so it’s stressful for her. He wants Selena to be happy.”
Fuel was added to the fire when fans of Selena noticed that she didn't follow her mother on Instagram and vice versa, but the actress and singer recently changed her profile picture to one of her mother. The social media queen is the most followed user on the social network and recently went on a major purge. Gomez didn't follow many people --about 300-- but recently she went down to only following 30 which included Taylor Swift, Francia Raisa, Julia Michaels, Amy Schumer, Jessica Alba and some of her fan club accounts as well as fashion brands. The "Wolves" hit maker unfollowed stars like Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello, Gigi Hadid and her "13 Reasons Why" cast.
Selena has not addressed the issue as to what prompted her to unfollow all those people but she did share a picture that took her back to her childhood home. “The home I grew up in, from birth to 12.. (no one was home when I knocked this time lol) I visit this place every chance I get,” she wrote on Instagram. “In many ways it very well could have been better than my life today, but I’m grateful for a voice that can enable change today. Even when I don’t know how to do it well or actually want it. I love you Grand Prairie. Thank you.”
