Selena Gomez has checked into a rehab on the East Coast to battle depression and emotional issues, Radar Online reported Tuesday citing a source. According to the report, Gomez secretly checked into the facility in early September and will undergo intense therapy sessions.
The news comes just weeks after concerns were raised when Gomez canceled her Revival Tour in late August, saying that she wanted to focus on her life and health. At the time, reports claimed that the 24-year-old, who has battled lupus, is making every effort to get her life "back on track."
A source told Radar Online that Gomez, who has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Bieber, will be staying in the rehab for at least two months.
“The facility is a women’s only facility in a secluded wooded area,” the source reportedly said. “She’s staying for more than 60 days.”
Gomez’s rehab “is not a huge celebrity center or anything like that, and it’s not somewhere where Selena has any ties,” revealed the source. The report added that Gomez is not being treated for any drug-related problems and her health crisis majorly is because of her depression.
“The rehab has a Christianity-based track, which might have been appealing given her religious background," the source said, adding that during her stay Gomez will participate in intense therapy sessions. She will also be allowed to leave the facility in a group "for day trips to the surrounding area.”
Over the last few months, Gomez has gone through some emotional trouble following her feud with her former boyfriend, Bieber, on social media, and also after the tragic death of her close friend Christina Grimmie.
However, it is unclear if these were the reasons for her depression. The news of Gomez's rehab stint has not been confirmed.
