Selena Gomez scared her fans after she announced she was cancelling the Asian and Australian dates on her tour. She had scheduled a five-city tour of Australia, starting Feb. 1 at Perth Arena. The trek was then expected to head to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre (Feb. 4), Brisbane Convention Centre (Feb. 6), Sydney Entertainment Centre (Feb. 7) and wrapping Feb. 8 at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. She also had dates in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. The “Come And Get It” singer released a statement explaining her decision.
"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me." Of course, this statement freaked everyone out thinking that the starlet might be going through some mental breakdown a la Britney Spears or Amanda Bynes.
However, according to E! News, a source says Selena is just fine and people can stop worrying too much about her. "Selena is OK. She just realized it was time to take a break for herself. She's been working non-stop for six years. She hit a wall. She wants to spend time with her family, especially for the holidays." Another source close to the singer told People Magazine, "Selena is fine, she's in a great space, she's looking forward to spending the holidays with her family."
The "Come & Get It" singer launched her tour in August and played 55 concerts in the U.S. and Europe. This month, she's been featured in the Jingle Ball holiday concert series. "She has been working nonstop for six years," an insider told Us Weekly. "She needs to take some time for herself. It was a very hard decision because she hates disappointing fans but she needs to focus on her for a bit. She wants to stay healthy." Ticket-holders can get their refunds where they bought their tickets.
