Selena Gomez and Camila Cabello have stepped into the limelight to honor their friend and fellow superstar, Taylor Swift, on her recent crowning as Apple's Artist of the Year, in a vibrant testament to enduring friendships and musical camaraderie.
This accolade not only underscores Swift's monumental impact on the music industry but also highlights the powerful bonds she shares with her fellow artists.
"Taylor's recognition as Artist of the Year is a no-brainer. Her relentless efforts to connect with fans have set her apart", said Selena Gomez, a Latina powerhouse in the entertainment world and one of Swift best friends, lauded her unwavering dedication to her fanbase.
This sentiment comes from a place of deep mutual respect and shared history, dating back to their initial connection in 2008, when they were teenagers dating two of the Jonas Brothers.
Echoing Gomez's sentiments, Camila Cabello, another dynamic force in the music scene, praised Swift's lyrical genius.
"Taylor's music is a universal anthem for our generation. Her albums aren't just songs; they're poetic journeys," Cabello observed. Her friendship with Swift, blossoming post-Fifth Harmony, has been a blend of personal growth and professional admiration, showcased vividly during their joint performances at the 2019 American Music Awards and Swift's 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour.
Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Girl in Red and Muna were also part of the reel celebrating Swift success.
Swift's 2023 achievements are nothing short of historic, with a record-breaking 65 tracks soaring into Apple Music's Global Daily Top 100.
"Taylor Swift's impact on music is absolutely undeniable — not just this record-breaking year, but throughout her entire career," said Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats. "She is a generation-defining artist and a true change agent in the music industry, and there is no doubt that her impact and influence will be felt for years to come. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate her achievements."
Swift was also Spotify's 2023's most-streamed artist globally, with more than 26.1 billion streams since January 1 in that platform alone. Of course, that meant that she dethroned Bad Bunny, who held the title for three years in a row since 2020.
In the United States she also broke several box office records. For example, Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour Film" had an incredible opening weekend as it raked in a record-breaking collection of $92.8 million. This made it the biggest concert movie opening weekend, a record earlier held by 2008's Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert.
Also, the average attendance per live show was 72,459, accounting for closed off areas and floor seats, according to QuestionPro data. That comes to $2.2 billion — and that would make "Eras" the highest-grossing tour ever
