On Thursday, a teaser trailer of a new Crackle web series called "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" featuring Jerry Seinfeld appeared out of no where. Announcing that its first episode will premiere on July 19th, the teaser hardly provided any further information. In typical Jerry Seinfeld fashion, the premise of the show is either clearly obvious from the show's title or, just as likely, a premise doesn't exist at all as per the Seinfeld sitcom classic.
Featuring comedic titans including Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Colin Quinn, Michael Richards (Kramer!), and Ricky Gervais, the classic cars seem to only serve as a stage while the show fundamentally invites interesting guests for Seinfeld to chat with and have some laughs with during the java run all while adding a peppering of input on old cars.
Interestingly, Jerry Seinfeld, a long Porschephile, isn't the only comedian that enjoys his cars. Jay Leno hosts a weekly webshow called "Jay Leno's Garage," which stores about 100 of his personal vehicles and 100 of his own motorcycles. Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) is one of the select few that owns an ultra-rare McLaren F1 supercar. Adam Carolla created his webshow "CarCast" before hosting the short-lived "The Car Show" on Speed TV last year. Could a passion for cars directly correlate with a person's talent for humor?
According to a press representative for Seinfeld, the creators will only reveal so much for now and would rather have the "content speak for itself." Well, thanks... That said, we can't wait to see the finished product!
