Sebastián Rulli is calling out all those celebrities that are using the tragic event in México to promote themselves. Following the devastating earthquake many stars have come out to help their neighbors, while other have used the opportunity to showcase they are "heroes." In a repost from Javier Poza the "Papá A Toda Madre" star echoed his sentiment that slammed those famous people only helping out to benefit themselves.
"Please, if you are a public person or not, have the sensibility of not promoting yourself with the tragedy," Poza wrote. "Use your social networks for what is necessary, broadcast what is essential, what can help, you don't need to show anybody that you're helping. Help, period. That's the most important thing."
Mexico experienced another major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2, according to the U.S. Geological Survey with its center was east of the city in the state of Puebla. The tremor happened on the day Tuesday right on the 32nd anniversary of the most destructive shake that the city experienced in the 80s. The 1985 Mexico City earthquake struck in the early morning of 19 September with a moment magnitude of 8.0 and a Mercalli intensity of IX (Violent).
The event caused serious damage to the Greater Mexico City area and the deaths of at least 5,000 people. The sequence of events included a foreshock of magnitude 5.2 that occurred the prior May, the mainshock on September 19, and two large aftershocks. The first of these occurred on September 20 with a magnitude of 7.5 and the second occurred seven months later on April 30, 1986 with a magnitude of 7.0.
Many stars have been using their fame to benefit the victims of the earthquake like Ana Brenda, that started a crowdsourcing effort to help everyone that was affected. "Hi, I'm Ana Brenda and I am an actress that lives in the city of Mexico," she wrote on the GoFundMe site. "I saw the catastrophe in the Roma neighborbood and saw how much help is needed. I am starting a campaign to help our beloved Mexico on this sad day. Please help. I will be buying supplies and personally delivering them. I will show proof of receipts on social networks. We need to unite. Love you. Ana."
Ana Brenda was touched by the success of the campaign and updated her followers with the following note: "Good morning everybody. Help is needed fast. Thank you all for your donations I am profoundly moved. I know I said I would donate it to the Red Cross but supply is needed fast. I hope you don't get upset that I go buy supply and personally deliver your donations. I will upload receipts and proof of everything."
Salma Hayek is also doing her part as she opened an account on CrowdRise, which is part of GoFundMe to help her native country Mexico after the devastating earthquakes. Hayek also donated $100,000 to the campaign. “The people of my country have now suffered three natural disasters in a row,” said Hayek on her campaign. “Many children and families are hurt and in terrible need. I'm contributing $100,000 now to UNICEF which has teams on the ground responding. Please join me and contribute what you can and thank you.”
