Just when you think you’ve heard it all, a person like 25-year-old Sebastián Gutiérrez from Hidalgo, Mexico, comes along and tries to sell his son on Facebook. The page “Compra-Venta Pachuca” is where people advertise things to buy and sell, so Gutiérrez thought it’d be a good idea to sell his newborn boy for $400,000 pesos (approximately $26k) or a van. “My girlfriend left me yesterday and to be honest, I don’t have the time or the money to take care of my son, so I’m selling him. He’s as calm as he looks and he I’ll give him to you with 6 packs of diapers and wipes. I’m asking for $400,000 pesos or a van, and if you’re reading this Elizabeth Perez Mondragon, now you can see what I’m capable of doing. Only serious offers, and I’m sorry if this offends you.”

Needless to say, the people of Pachuca were completely outraged and Gutiérrez received numerous attacks and even threats. Later on, he posted saying it was just a joke to get attention, “I hope the people of Pachuca can forgive me one way or the other and give me a second chance instead of threating me to death,” said Gutiérrez. But was the initial post really a joke? Now this is not the first time we've seen this, remember in 2012 when a Saudi man tried to sell his son for $20MM to avoid poverty? What's wrong with this world!?
