The Seattle Seahawks have plenty to be excited about as the 2013-2014 NFL season approaches.
Looking to build off a season that saw them advance to the postseason while a rising star in quarterback Russell Wilson performed at a stellar level, Seattle will surely be among the favorites to make a serious push towards a Super Bowl berth.
For all the positive things Seattle did as a team last season, the organization could not have been happy when learning about the arrest of back-up quarterback Josh Portis.

The 25-year-old QB was pulled over on May 5 by a Washington State Patrol officer for allegedly speeding, according to NFL.com. Noticing, "a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle" and that Portis "had watery bloodshot eyes," the officer arrested the pro footballer on suspicion of DUI. When asked if he knew the date, Portis replied back to the trooper that it was "Cinco de Mayo."
According to the troopers report, Portis was not alone when he was pulled over earlier this month and both individuals initially tried to use the quarterback's celebrity status to keep him out of trouble.
"Portis asked me if I knew who he was and I stated yes," the trooper stated in the repot. "The passenger exited the vehicle and began to cry. The passenger stated I was arresting a Seahawk, and I was going to ruin him. The passenger shouted at me and stated she couldn't believe that I was from Seattle, and was arresting a Seahawk."

Portis is now scheduled to be arraigned in King County District Court on May 28.
Josh Portis entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Initially signed by the Seattle Seahawks for the start of the 2011-2012 season where he'd serve as a member of the practice squad, Portis lasted only one season with the team before he was cut in August of 2012.

7 months later, the former California University (PA) standout was signed by the Toronto Argonauts, a member of the Canadian Football League. Only serving one season with the CFL team, Portis was once again signed by the Seahawks last month, this time to a two-year contract.
Currently listed as the third quarterback on the Seahawks depth chart behind Wilson and Brady Quinn, Portis will compete for the back-up role with Quinn and the fourth QB on Seattle's roster, 24-year-old Jerron Johnson.
