Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Spurs and Warriors was one of the best games in the NBA this season.

Coming off an impressive 6-game series win over the Denver Nuggets, all seemed to be going well for Golden State, especially late in their series-opener with San Antonio.

Leading by 16 with 4 minutes remaining, Golden State was in line to take early control of the match-up but the veteran Spurs closed in dominant fashion, eventually taking Game 1 129-127 in a double overtime thriller.

The series resumes Wednesday, May 8th at 9:30pm, EDT in San Antonio. Coverage of the game will be provided by the TNT television network.

San Antonio looked sluggish to start their semifinal opener Monday night. Struggling to find offensive consistency while looking for a way to slow down lethal Warrior shooter Stephen Curry, the Spurs never imagined they'd be able to close the game in the manner they did.

"I don't know how we managed to tie the game," Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said to NBA.com. "We had some really big shots before regulation, in the first overtime and second overtime. It got us the win, but not sure if we deserved it."

Down by 12 heading into the fourth quarter, San Antonio had no answer for Curry, who finished the game with 44 points and 11 assists. The 25-year-old rising superstar was unstoppable, shooting 9-for-12 in the third quarter alone and 6-of-14 from three point range during the game.

Knowing something will need to improve when it comes to slowing down the Warrior sharpshooter, Spurs head coach Greg Popovich is open for ideas.

"We'd like to figure out how to hold Curry below 40," Popovich said to reporters from ESPN. "I've got like 10 phone calls out for people asking for suggestions. He's unbelievable. He's something to watch."

While Curry was in control of the Warrior offense, Ginobili, Tony Parker, Danny Green and Tim Duncan did their part to keep the Spurs within shouting distance of Golden State.

Parker led the Spurs with 28 points while Green added 22 of his own. Tim Duncan provided San Antonio with another double-double, dropping 19 points and collecting 11 rebounds in the victory.

The biggest shot though, came from the hands of Manu Ginobili.

Trailing 127-126 in the second overtime, Ginobili was left wide open off an inbounds pass with 3.9 seconds remaining and promptly buried his three-point attempt. The bucket propelled San Antonio to the 2-point victory and capped off one of the best games the league has seen this season.

The series continues Wednesday, May 8th at 9:30pm, EDT.

Be sure to catch all the action as the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors continue a series that should only get better as each game rolls along.

Game 2 coverage will be provided by the TNT television network.
