The Samsung Galaxy S21 will officially launch on Jan. 14 at the Galaxy Unpacked Event 2021 press conference. It comes way earlier than previously scheduled, giving customers a glimpse of the new 5G phones and accessories it will be offering soon at the virtual event.

There are three variants expected to be revealed on Jan. 14. That list includes the Samsung Galaxy S21, the Galaxy S21 Plus and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This new breed of handsets will succeed their 11-month old predecessors, namely the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and the S20 Ultra, Tech Radar reported.

The sudden schedule change may throw some off. The virtual event is usually hosted by Samsung in February but a change in the regular schedule of tech events may have been the reason. The MWC 2021 has been bumped to late June. Aside from that, the availability of the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 chipsets may have come out earlier than expected.

An invite from Samsung does not mention any of the said models. Rather, it shows a blurred image of a recently leaked rear camera module encased in an opaque cube. The invite read: “Welcome to the Everyday Epic” followed by Galaxy Unpacked and Jan. 14, 2021, live on Samsung.com.

As for the specs to expect, practically all features of the Samsung Galaxy S21 have been revealed. That includes phones in three screen sizes – 6.2-, 6.7- and 6.9-inches. All will have 120 Hz adaptive displays and a small bezel at the bottom.

As for the internal specs, they will have either the Qualcomm 888 or Exynos 2100 chipsets. Only buyers from the USA, China and Korea will have the Snapdragon 888 SoC while the rest will be offered the Exynos variant. It will have at least 8 GB of RAM with 12 GB and 16 GB RAM also available.

As for storage, the new Samsung flagship will offer internal storage of 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB of storage. For now, there appear to be no card slots included per GSM Arena.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus will reportedly have three lenses (12 MP main, 12 MP ultra-wide and 64 MP telephoto). However, the S21 Ultra will have a different rear camera setup with a 108 MP main camera, 10 MP periscope telephoto, 10 MP telephoto and 12 MP ultrawide lens.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra should get the most thinking although confirming other features would further spur interest. It may come with an S-Pen, something exclusive to the Galaxy Note series.

Aside from the phones, other accessories that could come out include the Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag and the Galaxy Buds Pro. With only about 10 days to go, these are stuff worth keeping track of as the Unpacked Event 2021 countdown starts.
