If you haven’t heard of Ryan Kaji, then you're probably living under a rock! The seven-year-old YouTube star of Ryan ToysReview managed to rake in $22 million in 2018 and he shows no signs of slowing down or earning less.
Although a young chap, Ryan’s review videos have more than 30 million hits, making him the highest-paid entrepreneur on YouTube. He has gained a massive fan following and is hands down one of the most popular influencers.
How Does Ryan Make $22 Million Yearly?
Much, if not all of Ryan's success can be attributed to his mother Loan Guan - after all, she is the brain behind Ryan’s YouTube Channels. One day, when Ryan was watching EvanTube HD, he asked his mother, "How come I’m not on YouTube when all the other kids are?". This gave Loan the idea to start a YouTube channel for Ryan.
Other sources of income include his many YouTube Channels (Ryan's Family Review, The Studio Space, Combo Panda, etc.), his magazines and books, his Nick Jr. tv show, video games, fastfood toys, branded goods, and more.
What Is Ryan’s Nationality?
Contrary to the belief that he's Filipino, Ryan was born in the US to a Vietnamese mother, Loan Guan and a Japanese father, Shion Guan.
Why Was Ryan’s Mom Arrested And Sentenced To Jail?
In 2002, Loan Guan was an 18-year-old student at the University of Houston. Back then, she was caught shoplifting at JC Penny Department Store with six items of clothing that totalled to $93. The security staff detained her until the police officers arrived to charge and arrest her.
Although she could have gone to jail, the officers were lenient and gave her a $150 fine and non-custodial bail with a probation period of six months. She was also supposed to partake in an anti-shoplifting program and had to carry an offender identification card with her at all times.
But Loan had a different outlook and didn’t comply with the system. Therefore, on June 6, 2003, she was taken back to the Harris County Criminal Court and was sentenced to 30 days in prison.
Nowadays, Loan is busy taking care of the family businesses and her three kids- Ryan and his twin sisters, Kate and Emma. As for Ryan, he continues to dominate YouTube, creating videos almost every day.
