A former Russian leader has come forward to throw a warning aimed at the United States, stressing that efforts to force Russia to its knees will not work.
Former president and current Security Council deputy secretary Dmitry Medvedev says that Moscow can put the world's pre-eminent superpower in its place.
According to him, the efforts of the US to stoke "disgusting" Russophobia in an attempt to force the country to its knees will not work.
“It will not work - Russia has the might to put all of our brash enemies in their place," Medvedev stated.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine which started on Feb. 24, has resulted in sanctions on Russian leaders, companies and businessmen, practically cutting off the country from most of the world economy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin bats that his special military operation in Ukraine was necessary with the US allegedly using Ukraine to Russia with the latter country forced to defend against the "genocide" of Ukrainians.
These genocide allegations have been branded as nonsense by Ukraine and the claims to rip Russia apart is nothing more than fiction.
Unsurprisingly, Russia says they can fare well even with the sanctions in place. It says its bid to forge ties with the West after the 1991 fall of the Soviet Union is now over and that it will develop ties with other powers such as China.
In related news, Russia has canceled its UN Security Council vote on a “humanitarian” resolution on Ukraine. The decision was made allegedly due to a lack of support from its closest allies according to diplomats.
Moscow has failed to secure co-sponsorship of the draft text from China and India, suggesting that Beijing and New Delhi would not have supported it, AFP reported via Inquirer.net.
