The highly anticipated "Rush" trailer is finally out! Even though it has been more than a year since Acadamy Award-winning director Ron Howard first announced the movie that retells the drama of the 1976 Formula 1 driver's championship between legendary drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, the new trailer suggests "Rush" will definitely be worth the wait.

Playing one of the greatest racing rivalries of all time, Chris Hemsworth of "Thor" and "The Avengers" and Daniel Bruhl of "Bourne Ultimatum" and "Inglourious Basterds" will play the naturally gifted playboy James Hunt and the supremely talented Niki Lauda, respectively.

A monumental project, Ron Howard was eager to start filming when he experienced the raw drama of writer Peter Morgan's script.

"These are fascinating characters- ballsy, masculine guys. It was a very dangerous era in racing, and here are two absolute individuals at the height of their powers. It makes for great drama and very exciting action. I wasn't a die-hard Formula 1 fan before I read Peter's script, but I've been immersing myself in this world. I think the excitement I feel as a fresh convert may be infectious."

Coming as no surprise to Formula 1 buffs, "Rush" captures the building tension in the races that eventually led to the German Grand Prix, where an incredible crash between Niki Lauda and James Hunt at the Nurburgring nearly cost Lauda his life when he was trapped in a burning Ferrari. Embarking on a challenging road to recovery, Niki Lauda would return to race James Hunt once again for the 1976 Japan Grand Prix at Fuji.

"Rush" hits theaters on September 13th. Be sure to watch the epic "Rush" trailer below:
