After months of investigation about his involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering, Romeo Santos has decided to break his silence to dispel the rumors. "Total Conciertos and Mr. Andres Barco have never been a promoter for any of the singer's concerts," says a statment that appeared on "Despierta América" on Univision. The allegations were made against Santos and Andres Barco in Spain back in 2012 following an investiation by the Spanish police.
Everything began when the Spanish Police force began an investigation into money laundering allegations made against three well-known figures: Vicente Fernández, Lionel Messi y Romeo Santos. The money laundering operation's leader was supposedly Andres Barco. According to Vanguardia, the detectives discovered that on the 15th, 16th and 17th of June 2012 in Barcelona, Madrid and Murcia respectively, the organization was able to launder 300 thousand Euros through Fernandez' concerts. A similar amount was laundered through Romeo Santos.
A witness involved with the criminal operations revealed the details of the scheme. Apparently a large number of people were allowed to enter the concert for free, despite the publicising the fact that the concert was nearly sold-out. In actuality, those tickets were bought by the drug cartel as a means of laundering the money. However, just two months after the scandal was made public, Romeo has now come out to deny all claims. As the case has not concluded, the outcome is yet to be determined.
