What does a man do when most of his body is covered with tattoos? He tattoos his eyeballs!

Or at least, that's what Rodrigo Fernando dos Santos of Brazil did after 70 percent of his body was tattooed. Dos Santos had his eyeballs injected with ink, using a special syringe-like needle, so that the whites of his eyes would turn black. The 39-year-old, who is known as Musquito in his town, said he wept black-ink tears for two days.

"There is no drill," says Rafael Leão Dias, the man who performed the unique tattooing. "We apply the ink between the conjunctiva and sclera layer that protects the eye. I studied the procedure for two years and performed my first application in Oct. 2012. The law does not prohibit this, here or abroad. There is no risk or discomfort due to the use of specific eyewash."

"I wept ink for two days," said Musquito, who is also a tattoo artist for the past seven years in Sao Paulo, Brazil. "Only now is the color of my tears lightening up. I think they are still half gray."

That said, The Brazilian Society of Ophthalmology warns that this procedure can cause internal inflammation, which can lead to vision loss.

"Nobody inspired me, I did it to remain different," he added, noting that he's the 13th Brazilian to try tattooing his eyeball. The procedure, which took two hours, set him back R$1,000 (about US $500).
