Robert Pattinson’s First Look In ‘Batman’ Costume Revealed In Matt Reeve’s Camera Test

Robert Pattinson has been confirmed to be the next “Batman” last year after months of speculations. He is the next caped superhero next to Ben Affleck who hanged up his Batsuit as he is not fit for the character anymore.

The “Twilight” star was officially cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Matt Reeves’ film in May 2019. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was the director himself who chose Pattinson over Nicholas Hoult. It was mentioned that the two actors went through screen testing wearing the costume from the last “Batman” movie.

Filming has already started in January and finally, the first glimpse of Robert Pattinson in costume has been revealed by Reeves. The short clip is dark and highlighted the mysterious look of the new Batman. Overall, Pattinson’s look in a Batsuit was described to be dark but sexy.

In any case, the 33-year-old actor previously shared that he really worked hard to get the role. He said that he is a big fan of “Batman” films so when he heard that Matt Reeves is producing a reboot of the famous Caped Crusader movies for Warner Bros., he quickly sprung to action and tried to meet up with the director.

“I’d had Batman in my mind for a while,” Pattinson told Variety. “It’s such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt. He didn’t accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him.”

Needless to say, Pattinson is very grateful to have landed the role and even his ex-girlfriend and “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart also said that she is very happy for him. She added that she could not think of anyone else that Robert who would be perfect as “Batman.”

Now, with the cast already in place, the next thing that was revealed is the fact that Robert Pattinson is set to star in not one but three movies. It will be a trilogy under Reeves and the first one has been scheduled to drop in the summer of 2021.

Finally, The New York Times also interviewed Robert Pattinson and was asked what is it about this superhero movie that excites him. He said that he just loves its director and it’s a really good and cool character.

“His morality is a little bit off. He’s not the golden boy, unlike almost every other comic-book character,” he explained. “There is a simplicity to his worldview, but where it sits is strange, which allows you to have more scope with the character.”
