Fans gathered excitedly to finally be able to watch Rihanna perform however with no opening act, the impatient were left to wait 3 hours for the singer to finally take the stage.

One fan tweeted, "Boston waited 2 months and then Rihanna was 3 hours late to her packed concert. She deserved to get booed! We were mad as hell."

When Rihanna did finally take the stage 3 hours late, fans vehemently booed the singer. One fan claimed on Twitter, that Rihanna's performance only lasted one hour and that the singer lip-synced the entire performance. "Thank you @rihanna for playing an hour long concert and lip syncing the whole thing. I'm glad u "balled out" for Boston."

Fans standing in the crowd become increasingly displeased when there was no explanation for the singer's tardiness. However with all that time on their hands, fans began to speculate some reasons for Rihanna's absence.

Some fans believed that the due to hear recent break up with rapper Chris Brown, the singer could be finding things hard to cope with following Chris Brown's admission that the pair were no longer together over the weekend.

Others believed that Rihanna's delay to her own concert was caused due to the NBA Playoffs. Many fans speculated that because Rihanna is a basketball fan she was watching the Chicago Bulls take on Miami Heat in the opening contest of the NBA Eastern Conference semi-finals.

One angry fan tweeted "@rihanna 2-3 hrs late for your show in Boston, huh??! #disrespectful #noexcuse basketball was more important huh?? Don't come back."

Rihanna seemed undeterred by all the negative feedback from fans, instead of providing an explanation for her late arrival, the singer instead tweeted, "#BOSTON I will never forget this night!!! I truly have deeper love for you now!!! Thank you for making it extra special!! #DWT" accompanied by a photo of the TD Garden.
