In a press conference, it was announced that Ricardo La Volpe was no longer the coach of the team due to the fact that he was involved in some inappropriate behavior with a co-worker. Jorge Vergara, owner of the Guadalajara team, had this to say, “I can’t give any details because there is an ongoing investigation. It’s an investigation that is being handled by the authorities and I can’t give any details. That process is being handles right now. Before the authorities, the affected party is submitting her complaint.”
Everyone was surprised to hear the news because everyone was expecting the announcement to be that Rafa Puente Jr. would become part of the team’s leadership. But instead they found out it was to announce that Lavolpe had been fired due to his inappropriate behavior. Apparently the press conference was very short and precise.
Lavolpe is a former Argentine World Cup-winning goalkeeper and former coach of the Mexican and Costa Rican national teams. Lavolpe began his coaching career in the Mexican Primera División in 1989. He won the Mexican league in the 1992-93 season with Atlante and in 2002 with Toluca. In Argentina, he played for Banfield and San Lorenzo and in Mexico he played for Atlante and Oaxtepec. He won the 1978 World Cup with Argentina as the reserve goal keeper.
